Talking about the past with regular and irregular verbs.
The past tense tells us about things that already happened - yesterday, last week, or a long time ago.
For most verbs, we add -ed to make the past tense:
- play → played (I played yesterday)
- walk → walked (She walked to school)
- watch → watched (We watched a movie)
- like → liked (He liked the food)
Note: If the verb ends in -e, just add -d:
- like → liked
- dance → danced
Some common verbs don't follow the -ed rule. You need to learn them!

| see | saw |
