Bokstavregning

I algebra bruker vi bokstaver som representerer tall. Når vi regner med bokstaver, kan vi bare legge sammen eller trekke fra like ledd - det vil si ledd som inneholder de samme bokstavene med de samme eksponentene.

Regn ut:

a) $3a + 5a + a$
b) $3a + 7a - 5b$
c) $2x^2 - 5x + 3x + 4x^2 + 2$

Løsning:

Regn ut:

a) $2(x + 4)$
b) $-3(2x - 2)$

Løsning:

a) $2(x + 4) = {\color{blue}2 \cdot (x + 4) = 2 \cdot x + 2 \cdot 4} = 2x + 8$

b) $-3(2x - 2) = {\color{blue}-3 \cdot 2x - (-3) \cdot 2 = -6x - (-6)} = -6x + 6$

c) $x(x^2 - 3y + 2) = {\color{blue}x \cdot x^2 - x \cdot 3y + x \cdot 2} = x^3 - 3xy + 2x$

Potensregelen:

$x \cdot x^2 = x^1 \cdot x^2 = x^{1+2} = x^3$

Generelt: $x^n \cdot x^m = x^{n+m}$
